Movie Review: The Accidental Husband

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I am a sucker for romantic chick flicks. No matter how crappy they are to other people, to me they are still very much watch-able.

Uma Thurman plays Dr. Emma Lloyd (don’t know what’s the Dr there is for, shrink?), who is a radio personality dishing out advices for love!  R.E.A.L. love. She herself wasn’t doing too bad in that department. She was engaged to Richard Bratton, her publicist played by the very handsome Colin Firth.

I guess like how Colin is portrayed in this movie. He is extremely nice and very good in what he does, perfect husband candidate but this also equates him as a rather boring person.

So, what happened one day as little ol’ Dr. Emma was doing her program, a lady called in and tells her that she is having second doubts about marrying a guy whom she just met 5 months ago. She assures Emma that is no ordinary wedding jitters. Emma, the “love” guru, told the lady to ditch her guy and move on with her life, which she did!

This is where the movie slightly interesting. The guy who is being ditched is Patrick Sullivan played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan: hunky, raw male appeal  & a very sexy firefighter with the NYFD . He happens to be renting a place above an Indian restaurant and was great buddies with the owner’s kid, Ajay. Ajay is a computer expert, had managed to hack into the the States registry to change the marital status of Emma to be married to Patrick. This is their way of giving Emma a little taste of her own medicine?

This is where all the predicable things that can happen in a movie happened!

Other than the guys in the movies are super duper attractive, there isn’t really much a storyline to watch. So most folks can probably give this movie a miss!

Aren’t freebies a great thing? No one seems to complain when they are given, no matter how simple it is.

Lucky?

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Like all of you already know, my car met with a terrible little accident last week and this week, Alex is supposed to be outstation for only two days but since he’s in town, his boss decided that they might as well accomplish a few things while he’s there, so he’s away for the whole week. This means I will have full use of his car for the whole week (plus I get to stay at home; Mom’s good cooking! ) So luck’s a-changing?

Heart - Break Razor Cami!

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Yes, I am calling my latest project the Heart-break Cami for obvious reasons (for the oblivious, refer the previous post! ). I was really contemplating what I should be making with the yarn I got from Cucumber Patch. Alwayas wanted to make wearables but never really had the  courage  to venture into it!

Anyway, I’ve only started a bit and realised that I cast on too many stitches. Resulting the final product to be way to large for me; although I must admit I have been getting prosperous lately. Maybe it’s the emotional eating. What to do. Had to frogt the whole thing and begin again. So I started last night and up to this morning, this is what I had!

The razor heart breaker

Don't mess with me

Let’s see how this turns out! :) Keeping my fingers crossed. I need all the good luck I can get!

Produce from Cucumber Patch!

Monday, October 20th, 2008

and it ain’t cucumber!

I ordered few balls of yarn from Cucumberpatch; an online company in the UK. It has finally arrived and I had some time to photograph it! Actual arrival date was much earlier.

The yarn sitting on top of the storage box!

The colour is named Muse and in the website (probably due to my monitor settings as well) the colours were slightly darker shade but the real thing came out to be brighter. Although I was not entirely too happy with the colour tone, I have learnt to accept that ordering yarns online comes with this risk of slight colour mismatch.

Other than the colour, the yarn itself is very yummy. Very soft yet very strong.  The best part of all is that the yarn is super duper smooth. Earlier I was contemplating whether to buy 4mm Clover needles to start my project with but after casting on with my el-cheapo Pony needles the yarn  just seems to glide along. Save me RM39.90!

Closer look with the cast on. Sorry that yarn wasn’t positioned properly

I was warned by the nice lady in LYS not to knit too tightly with these because circular needles are known to cause a snag. So keep the tension really loose which is why although the pattern calls for 4mm, I used the 3mm ones and kept the tension really loose.  Let’s see how my project turn up. Will post follow pictures!
