So I attended my second week of class and already there are people asking when is the break. HAHA. Actually it’s quite a pertinent question since Malaysia has so many festivals to celebrate and Hari Raya Aidilfitri is right around the corner, I guess, old farts like myself are just worried that we are losing time to study.
I met a new student yesterday. A rather mature one. At first guess, I thought he was Japanese since he was struggling to hold a conversation with another student. As I joined in the conversation, found out that he’s from Kyrgyz Republic.
For a moment, it got me wondering why he was here in Malaysia to do a post graduate and being the straight-forward person, I asked him. He cited cost as the main factor. Saying for him to get an English degree here would cost him four to five times cheaper than if he were to do it in England. Reasonable reason. To my surprise, he also stated that Malaysia is relatively the better country to be in as compared to our neighbours namely, Indonesia, Thailand and Philipines. Of course, he also quickly added that he has never been to Singapore. Anyway, we chatted a bit and it dawn upon me, foreigners usually do not view Malaysia in such a bad light after all. Probably it is due to lots of stupid internal policies that are really driving Malaysians out of the country!
Seriously, I do not what happened. Next thing I know I came home with these. I just went to the store to buy more grey yarn to make my BIG totoro. Truly I did not see this coming.

It’s very lovely though. Bought it at RM18.90 each. A bit on the pricey side but then, it’s from Italy. Shipping costs is expensive nowadays. I can’t wait to start a project with these! ![]()
or at least that’s what the test tells me. I am EVIL….THIS CONFIRMS IT!
Megatron
Megatron is the leader of the Decepticons. He will stop at nothing to establish his empire and destroy the Autobots, starting with Optimus Prime.
Like Megatron, you are not compassionate and harbor evil thoughts. You are inspiring, confident, and a natural leader. The Decepticons have chosen well. In addition, you enjoy technology and are aware of the latest trends, but you stick with what works for you.
Oh no, this is like undergraduate days all over again!!!
Actually not so much, except for the registration day, where it does feel like my undergrad days. The only difference is now my fees have increased significantly!!
I left work at 4:30pm (started before 7:00am) and have to brave through the horrible traffic in the city. Did a quick check with Master of the Roads, Kamkuey before leaving the office just to have him tell me that I am really heading towards the ‘heart of the jam’ . Seriously the congestion was worse than I thought. Probably with the puasa month here, everyone’s rushing home earlier to break fast.
Somehow, despite all the terrible traffic conditions, I managed to arrive at the teaching center 15 minutes early. The director of the programme is Scottish and he’s bald, not that it has anything to do with the programme, thought I’ll just add that in for fun. He speaks like William Wallace, for obvious reasons and has a great sense of humour. With him starting the whole induction puts everyone at ease. A friend of mine, whom I shall not reveal who, asked me to observe this man carefully to confirm a previous suspicion of his/her. Therefore ‘friend’, I am beginning to think that you are right about your suspicion! ha ha!
The evening was followed by my first class of my post-graduate career. Local professor. Looks like a professor, dresses like a professor but just like Mr. Baldy Scotsman, he too have this ability to tell a joke and still maintain a straight face. I really begin to wonder whether is this the core criterion for people wanting to join this institution.
Class finished at about 9:30pm. By that time, I was tired and was famished! Didn’t have time for me to grab a quick bite before the class started. Note to self: remember to ALWAYS grab something before the class starts!
Last Saturday, I enrolled myself into a postgraduate course. Therefore, officially I will start my years of ‘no-life’ state. Hopefully I will be able to finish this ASAP. Wish me luck!
p/s: Today’s my first day to class.
This film is certainly not made for mainstream media although there are a number of quite famous actors in there, namely Siena Miller, Guy Pearce, Mena Suvari and Hayden Christensen.
Factory Girl is a story roughly based on the life on Edith Sedgwick. Truthfully, I have no idea who Edie (her pet name) was. So I did a google and found an entry about her in Wikipedia. The movie was a good potrayal about her life. The sufferings she’s been through, her rise to fame, her descent and ultimately her demise.
The acting and direction of the movie is really nothing to shout about. It’s plain and boring. However, the storyline is the one that is most intriguing. There are certain parts in there that really shows how screwed up some people were in the 60s. Substance abuse as well as their version of ‘free love’.
Overall, I won’t recommend anyone to watch this movie since this will cause you to be mildly depressed and the fact that acting and direction sucks. One thing there is one lesson learnt from the movie is how our lifes turns out is in our own hands.

The real Edith Sedgwick
Finally finished making this. It was really quick and fast to crochet this. However, when it came to stuffing it with the fiberfil, it was pretty tough. Plus I wanted to make the bottom heavy so that the doll can stand, therefore I used beans. Very difficult. I think I should have used an old panty hose to hold the beans first before stuffing it into the doll. Part of learning I guess!
For those who aren’t sure what amigurumi is, read it up here.
As promised, since my Sony is back, this is the pair of booties I made for my expecting friend. I still haven’t thought of what to use to lace it up!
