Cooking Brunch with the New Set!

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Was pretty excited about the new Pyrex set and straight away starting formulating what I could cook with it. Over the weekend, I invited my parents and brother, who is back from Penang, to come over for Sunday lunch. Usually, I go over to my parents’ place, but for a change, they came over.

After planning for the menu a few days in advanced, this was finally decided to go with this menu: -

  1. Mustard & Honey Oven-Baked Chicken
  2. Grilled Vegetables
  3. Roasted Pink Potatoes with Rosemary
  4.  Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

The dishes were quite a hit especially the stuffed mushrooms but the same cannot be said for the grilled vegetables. Probably it is the way I did it. Need to find a good recipe. The chicken, I didn’t manage to snap a picture of it since it was the last dish out of the oven.

I’m loving my new casserole set!

Athena is getting domesticated

Monday, August 6th, 2007

I’m less than a year into married life and I feel that I am getting more and more domesticated as the minutes passes.

I picked up a lovely ball of cotton yarn to crochet baby booties for my friend who’s expecting. Yarn is getting expensive. The 50-grams of yarn cost me RM29.90 and it wasn’t even wool! Anyway, it has been some time since I did some crocheting but I still remembered the basics. I surfed net for some ‘new’ designs but found all of the designs are rather plain (read:ugly). Nonetheless, since I was lazy, I tried out what they called a 30-minute bootie. Of course, it took me an hour to finish since I am not born with the Flash’s ability. Worse part was that I am not happy with the results as it looked like a distorted pair of socks! Therefore, I have decided to do an ‘old-fashioned’ pair of booties. So still working on that! Will try to post a photo once I am done.

Besides that, I managed to roast my very first rotisserie chicken! Yay! Sorry no picture of it since the camera is not functioning. Don’t know what happened. The whole screen is black! *sob sob*
